Favour

A Hundred Buttons is an original 1st Folio Coppertwaddle Favour, and represents a common law method for the settling of disputes.

Its origin is from the scattering of a hundred small, flat and rounded pebbles into a straw-lined pit and two competitors having to retrieve as many of them as possible. The winner would gain a pig, a disputed piece of land, or some such; if there was a tie, then the procedure would be repeated until an outright winner could be declared.
